Welcome back to another installment in our Beauty Budget series – where I teach you all about curating your collection, saving money, and enjoying the makeup you already have! So far we’ve discussed determining your relationship with makeup and curating your eyeshadow collection. If you haven’t already, be sure to also check those posts out! But in today’s post we’re going to learn all about some makeup hacks – how to use current makeup products creatively in order to expand your collection even further without spending more money.
As always, credit is given where credit is due… This series is inspired by Whitney Hedrick. She has tons of similar content on her YouTube channel and this is often discussed in her Facebook group, War Paint, as well. Oh, and Whitney also recently launched a podcast called War Paint too – so search for that on whatever platform you use for podcasts.
Before we jump into it, if you aren’t already, be sure to follow me on Instagram for more chit chat about makeup!
1) Use face powders as eyeshadows.
That’s right – bronzer, blush, and highlight can be used as eyeshadows! In fact, this is a great tip for anyone that wants an easy, very cohesive look. And using your pressed face powder to blend out the edges of your eyeshadow will definitely level up your blending game!
2) Skip eye primer and use concealer instead.
I’m honestly confused by eye primer these days. People are literally spending money on an additional product that’s exactly the same as concealer. Concealer can cover any redness or veins on your eyelids and provide a tacky base as well.Use these 5 #makeuphacks to get the most out of your #makeupcollection! Click To Tweet
3) Use your liquid highlight to add luminosity to your foundation.
If you’re feeling like you’d like a little more glow to your foundation, don’t go out and buy a new one – just add a couple drops of a liquid highlight to your foundation.
4) Experiment with your lip liners.
Lip liners are a huge game changer when it comes to your lip look. Different techniques and different pairings can completely change the way a lipstick looks. If you feel like you need to revamp your lipstick collection or like you need a new lipstick, play around with your lip liners first.
5) Use eyeshadow to fill in your brows.
Lastly, if you like a softer, more-undone brow, find an eyeshadow in a palette you already own to fill in your brows. No need for brow powder! I do this all the time.
