Take advantage of sales when grocery shopping.

If you can, buying a bunch during a sale and then freezing will help you save a ton of money, especially when it comes to more expensive items like meats.

Recently a local grocer had some great sales on meats. We went, picked out several different meats, and saved more than we spent. Our total before checking out was close to $200 and it dropped to $90! My husband’s face when the prices dropped was amazing!

Now we’re all stocked up for awhile! As an added bonus, this will make meal planning extra easy for the next month or so.

Say nice things about yourself.

I think we can all agree on the importance of mental health, right? It’s just as important as physical health, if not more! So learn to say kind things to yourself. If you can’t think of anything, ask your significant other, best friend, or mom. They’ll undoubtedly be able to spout off a list! Write them down if you need to and say them outloud to yourself everyday.

Work out at home.

With YouTube, the working out at home possibilities are endless! Zumba and HIIT work outs are great options for burning calories and getting your body moving! Yoga videos can help you stretch it all out. It’s always free to run or hike too.

Buy work out equipment.

If you’re looking for something more challenging at home, invest in some work out equipment. Dumbbells are super expensive though – even a small, very low-weight set will run you $30. I recommend going the band route instead! This set from Amazon is awesome, with bands ranging from 10 lbs to 50 lbs. Again, YouTube is a great resource for band workout ideas!

Abstain from alcohol.

This one will actually save you a ton of money if you regularly purchase alcohol. Honestly, there’s no dancing around it – alcohol is a slow poison. It literally does nothing good for your body. Plus, it’s super expensive! Save your money and your liver and abstain on a regular basis.

And that concludes my 5 tips for being healthy on a budget! What tips or hacks would you share?
