I’m pretty solid in my makeup ways, especially when it comes to complexion products. However, one makeup product that I like to switch up, especially with the seasons, is my lipsticks. I don’t even do it consciously or intentionally – it just naturally happens as I’m inundated with trends, vibes, and color palettes on social media. I have this nifty, little, heart-shaped acrylic organizer that I use for my most-used lipsticks of the season. Let’s take a peek at my favorite lipsticks for summer…
You’ll notice that not all of these are lipsticks. I have lipsticks, glosses, liquid lipsticks, and a lip paint – so there truly is something for everyone! I also love to use these lip products in conjunction with each other for a customized, unique look, which I’ll also share as I go through them.
1. L’Oreal Infallible Paints Metallics in 330 Moon Lust
If you’ve been around for a bit, then this should come as no surprise to you. This is the perfect rose gold, metallic lip color! It’s absolutely stunning, smells amazing, and lasts a decent amount of time on the lips. Plus, it’s L’Oreal and costs under $10.
2. NYX Duochromatic Shimmer Lip Gloss in Booming
Again, this is a lip gloss I’ve been loving. This gloss has such a unique shift to the color – the picture doesn’t do it justice! It looks pink in the tube but applies as a yellowy gold. I love how it transforms other lip products when used on top. It’s especially beautiful when put on top of the L’Oreal Moon Lust lipstick.
The consistency is a bit thicker than I like though. Luckily, it packs a punch with a small amount of product, so I always use just a thin layer. This gloss gets its beautifully unique finish from micro-glitter, but it remains smooth and you can’t feel them.
3. Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Gloss in Solar Coral
If you were to ask me if there was anything special or unique about this lip gloss, I’d tell you no. But for some reason I can’t stop using it! It’s not incredibly pigmented and the consistency is a bit slippery, which means it doesn’t last well. But I can’t stop wearing it! I really love the color and the way it adds just a hint of coral to other lip products. I’ve seen that Revlon has another lip gloss similar in color but with sparkle in it and I’ve added that to my wish-list!
4. Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip in Sunday
I know the Ultra Matte liquid lipsticks aren’t for everyone, but if you’re looking for a bulletproof lipstick then look no further! This lipstick applies opaque and dries down to a budge-proof, fully matte finish. This baby doesn’t come off unless you want it to! I love the shade Sunday, a rosy, mid-tone. The applicator is also smaller than your average doe foot, so you’re able to get clean, crisp lines upon application.
5. NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in London
This is my perfect nude! Not too cool, not too warm, just perfect. I’m a huge fan of the SMLC formula – I find them to be opaque, transfer resistant, and comfortable to wear. This shade in particular is amazing as a base for all the glosses I have mentioned!
6 and 7. Mary Kay NouriShine+ Lip Gloss in Beach Bronze and Fancy Nancy
Honestly, there’s lots of shades from this range that I love, but these are my most used. Beach Bronze is the perfect bronze, golden shade with beautiful sparkle. Fancy Nancy has a pinky nude base with gold sparkle – Fancy Nancy actually lives in my purse and is my on-the-go gloss.
I love the consistency of these because they’re thick enough to be long lasting but don’t feel heavy or sticky on the lips. They’re also formulated with amazing ingredients that provide instant moisture and work to protect, condition, soothe, and smooth lips. The shine they provide is also stunning – so juicy and delicious!
These glosses are a win-win!
NOTE: Fancy Nancy is not pictured because it lives in my purse and I forgot to grab it for pictures *face palm*. Just trust me – it’s gorgeous!
8. Mary Kay Crème Lipstick in Sheer Blush (discontinued)
That’s right – I’m including a discontinued lipstick. Why? Because I keep it real with you guys and I genuinely love this lipstick. If it makes you feel any better, I’m also sincerely upset this was discontinued.
This lipstick is the perfect shimmery base shade. I can’t wear this lipstick on its own, as it is too light for my complexion, but I love to top it with the four glosses I mentioned. Not all at one time – you get the idea! It’s a pale, almost-metallic, pink shade and I love to top it with the glosses for a very glassy, shiny look.
A similar, current shade that Mary Kay now carries is the shade Naturally Buff in the Gel Semi-Shine lipstick line.
