January Beauty Product Empties

Posted January 31, 2018 by Kalyn in makeup, Mary Kay, Review / 6 Comments

For some reason, I finished off a large amount of makeup products this month. And instead of throwing them away like a sane person, I hoarded the trash so that I could blog about it. This is my first time doing a post like this, so here’s how it’s gonna go: 1) a picture of the product, 2) a mini review of the product, and 3) if I will be repurchasing this product or not. So I bring to you my January beauty product empties.

Makeup Revolution Oil Control Fixing Spray

My first product for my January product empties is this setting spray by Makeup Revolution. I think it did a great job at melting the powders into my skin, the mister on it is fine, and it did a good job at keeping my makeup in place all day. At $8, I think this is a perfectly acceptable fixing spray.

Did I repurchase it? No. While I think it’s a fine product, I really enjoy trying out new setting sprays. So onto the next one!

Mary Kay Perfecting Concealer

Second on my list of January beauty product empties is the Mary Kay Perfecting Concealer. This concealer is so full coverage that it only takes a dot of product – seriously! You’ll see girls do the whole triangle thing with concealer to highlight under their eyes… don’t do that with this one! When using an appropriate amount, it blends out beautifully and provides a brightening effect. For reference, I use the shade Light Ivory.

Did I repurchase it? Absolutely!

Mary Kay TimeWise Matte-wear Liquid Foundation

The Mary Kay TimeWise Matte-wear Liquid Foundation is number three on my list of January beauty product empties. This foundation has been my holy grail for three years now. I love that it’s matte, that it comes in a variety of undertones, and it’s formulated with skincare ingredients. Yes, yes, and yes! For reference, I use the shade Ivory 5.

Did I repurchase it? Of course! I literally couldn’t live without it!

Psssttt – this foundation also comes in a luminous formula for dry skin!

L’Oréal Infallible Total Coverage Foundation

Weirdly enough, this is the second foundation to make it onto my January product empties post. I purchased the  L’Oréal Infallible Total Coverage Foundation about a year ago out of sheer curiosity. It was talked about a lot at the time of its release and people seemed to either love or hate it, so I wanted to form my own opinion. To keep it short and sweet, I do not like this foundation on it’s own. It’s too drying, even for my oily skin, and is too pale for me. I got the lightest shade, because the next shade up appeared to be much too dark. That being said, I really liked it mixed in with my usual Mary Kay matte-wear foundation! I feel the two foundations complimented each other nicely.

Did I repurchase it? No.

Mary Kay Lash Love Mascara, Waterproof and Regular

I pretty much use Mary Kay mascaras exclusively – although I have been real tempted by the L’Oréal Lash Paradise – so I’m not too shocked that two MK mascaras have made it on my January beauty product empties. I love both of these mascaras, but love the waterproof one just a liiiiitle more. Something about the waterproof formula just holds a curl so much better than the regular. Both of these mascaras build great volume and I’ve never had a problem with any smearing, flaking, or running.

Did I repurchase it? You betcha!

Final Thoughts

Like I said, this month was an unusually high amount of empties, so don’t expect this every month. Did you enjoy seeing what products I had used up? Were the reviews helpful? If you’d like, I’d love to do this type of post maybe once per quarter… Leave a comment below and let me know!

What products did you love in the month of January? I love to chat makeup so comment below and tell me!

I definitely plan to! Probably once per quarter or so, as makeup products don’t have a high use up rate. Thanks for reading!

  1. I’ve been on the hunt for a really good waterproof mascara for summer time. I am gonna try the Mary Kay one you suggested. I like trying different brands but haven’t tried this one yet.

Ohhhh, which one did you buy?! Setting spray is a must for me because I have oily skin, so it’s really easy for makeup to just slip and slide around on my face. Plus, it feels so good as a little mid-day pick me up.
