Holiday Makeup Look | 1 Silver Glitter and Red Lips

Christmas is right around the corner and that means Christmas parties! Especially if you belong to a church! Man, do we really like to celebrate Christmas for some reason πŸ˜‰

And the holidays are a great time to get glam! Think sparkle, shimmer, glitter, and red lipstick πŸ’„ That was the inspiration for this look! I wanted something pretty and extra but still simple to do. I went with timeless winged liner, a pearly highlight, and contoured cheeks. And while my (overdrawn) lips are obviously eye catching, the real fun is in the glittery silver eyeshadow!

To achieve this look, I used all of my typical complexion products. The Mary Kay foundation, concealer, translucent powder, and sheer mineral pressed powder. I know it may seem like I’m always using the same products and that’s because I am – you don’t fix what ain’t broken, girlfriend!

For contour I used the Tarte Pro Glow palette. The shade of that powder contour is to DIE FOR! And for blush I used the Mary Kay blush in Shy.

Now onto the fun stuff…

Firstly, just to finish off my face, that stunning, beaming highlight you see is the shade Stunner from the same Tarte palette. I picked some of it up with my brush, spayed the brush down with setting spray and applied it quite heavily. Normally I like a more subdued highlight, but the holidays is a perfect time to really go all out!

For my eyes, I just did some light eye contouring in the crease. I used the Mary Kay eye colors in Hazelnut and Driftwood. Anything neutral and close to your skin tone will do. Then I packed some glitter glue onto my eye lid. I used one by ELF, but NYX has a great one as well. Then, using my finger, I pressed this Ulta Glitter Eye Top Coat in Put A Ring On It over the glitter glue. Be warned – this has tons of fall out, so do your eyes before your face makeup so you can clean up the glitter with a make up wipe. Even with all the mess, the sparkling effect it gives is 100% worth it!

Then I opted for some winged eye liner – classic, timeless, and fancy shmancy. I used my trusty Mary Kay liquid liner pen. It took me a few coats to cover the glitter, which is totally normal, but it got the job done.

On my under eye I just smudged some of the same two eye shadow shades under there. This look is dramatic enough that it needs something there, but I didn’t want anything to draw attention away from the glitter and red lips.

Last thing for my eyes was mascara. I used my trusty and well-loved Mary Kay mascaras.

My lips – oh my goodness! Do you see these babies?! I feel like I got the perfect overdraw! It’s enough that they look bigger, but not too crazy. At least not in my opinion – you may think I look like a clown for all I know! But I used the NYX Liquid Suede in Kitten Heels. It’s a gorgeous, blue-based red (so it makes your teeth look extra white!) with a hint of pink in it. It’s a perfect shade for the holidays! And the formula is comfortable, long wearing, and safe for eating and drinking. Like, don’t go eating a greasy hamburger with it, but it would definitely survive the finger foods at holiday parties.

Final Thoughts

I love how this look turned out! Fairly simple to begin with and you could even minimize it even further if you don’t want to contour or highlight your cheeks. And I adore the fact that both the eyes and lips stand out but don’t compete with one another.

Keep your eyes peeled for more holiday looks!

  1. Yes to all the Christmas parties! I love this time of year. It’s so fun to get dressed up and have an excuse to wear red lipstick all the time! Your makeup looks incredible, and speaking of lips, that lip color is amazing! Any lip shade that makes my teeth look whiter is a winner in my book.
